What Is Reiki ?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It promotes healing on all levels of being; physical, emotional, and spiritual. The practitioner works within the energetic field, which can extend inches away from the body, and may include gentle touch. These techniques are used to increase the vibration of areas that are blocked to assist in gently releasing stuck energy and to bring healing to the area. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you promoting calm, happiness and healing as you enter a state of deep relaxation. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The Center for Reiki Research has conducted many studies of evidence-based research summaries. The overall results show strong indications of Reiki being highly effective in reducing stress as well as offering a significant reduction in anxiety and pain in chronically ill patients. High stress levels cause an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Stress can also cause an increase in pain levels. Reiki has been shown to counter this by activating the parasympathetic system, or vagal nerves, which in turn helps the body to relax.
Research findings have reported that Reiki may be helpful for:
-
relieving pain
-
reducing anxiety and depression
-
promoting relaxation
-
reducing stress
-
reducing side effects of cancer treatment
-
improving sleep
